OHIO STATE  UNIVERSITY PLANT DICTIONARY - PLANTFACTS - an encyclopedia and hypermedia resource of information about plants with over 5,000 images and searchable databases.
 
FORESTRY:

FORESTRY IMAGES -  well organized site offering outstanding images of all aspects of forestry with a specific section on diseases.
 

FUNGI: CORNELL CENTER FOR FUNGAL BIOLOGY - established to showcase the "Fungi of the Lindsay-Parsons Biodiversity Preserve Project".  Includes links to their  specimens, as well as other  useful information about fungi.
SYSTEMATIC BOTANY AND MYCOLOGY LABORATORY OF THE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH SERVICE - contains, among other things, an outstanding database of plant-associated fungi.
TOM VOLK'S FUNGI - wonderful collection of images, fungal portraits each month, and a list of harmful fungi for Thanksgiving and beneficial fungi for Christmas.
 
GENE MAPPING: GRAMENE - searchable, comprehensive gene mapping resource for rice, maize and wild rice.

BOTANICAL IMAGE LIBRARY -  Maintained by the University of Wisconsin, devoted to making botanical images available and easily accessible for educational use.
EXTENSION - "... an interactive learning environment delivering the best, most researched knowledge from the smartest land-grant university minds across America. extension connects knowledge consumers with knowledge providers - experts who know their subject matter inside out."  Maintained by Washington State University.
FOOD TIMELINE - Excellent starting point for culinary research or a better understanding about the history of food, including when it was introduced and some historic recipes.
FRANK POTTER'S SCIENCE GEMS - collection of more than 14,000 science resources sorted by category, subcategory and grade level (K-16).
MYCOKEY  - information and pictures of 282 genera and about 1,150 species of fungi; the text is in English and Danish.
SPONGOSPORA HOMEPAGE -  Once considered to be fungi but now classified in the Protozoa, these pathogens do not have hyphae, spread by zoospores and survive as resting spores.

STATE AGRICULTURAL DEPARTMENTS - Locate the website of any state's agricultural department.
STATE FACTS SHEETS - Summary of statistics on population (rural versus urban in ten year increments) , income (divided per capita, earnings per job, and poverty rate) , farm characteristics (conservation practices, number of farms by size and characteristics of principal farm operators), farm financial indicators (final crop output, capital consumption and net farm income), and top commodities and exports at the state and national level.
 

GENETICALLY MODIFIED CROPS &  BIOTECHNOLOGY:

 

COUNCIL FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY -  comprehensive site at with text is in English, French and Spanish.  A a section was specifically designed for Teachers and Students. Good source of background information on biotechnology, especially societal issues. 
TRANSGENIC CROPS: AN INTRODUCTION AND RESOURCE GUIDE - Two professors at Colorado State University attempt to present a balanced view both sides of the issue related to transgenic crops (also known as genetically modified (GM) crops through links and other resources.  Site has not been regularly updated since 2004.

MICROBIOLOGY: MICROBIAL WORLD - materials on this website are derived from original lectures, notes, and readings used in my Bacteriology/Microbiology courses taught at University of Wisconsin and is maintained by Kenneth Todar.
MICROBIOLOGY PORTAL - comprehensive introduction to all areas of microbiology with numerous links to explore specific topics.
 
NEMATODES: NEMBASE -  provides a central source of information about all nematodes.
PLANT AND INSECT NEMATODES - outstanding collection of information ranging from photo galleries to molecular diagnostics for plant and insect parasitic nematodes maintained by the University of Nebraska.

PLANT PATHOLOGY INTERNET GUIDEBOOK - resource for finding anything related to plant pathology and integrated pest management.

 

SPECIFIC DISEASES, PATHOGENS OR CROPS: BLUE MOLD FORECAST HOMEPAGE - Forecasts are generated from March through August for the occurrence of blue mold of tobacco and the future movement of inoculum across North America.
CEREAL DISEASE LABORATORY -  source of information about rusts, Fusarium head blight, karnal bunt and many other diseases of cereal grains.
CUCURBITS - cucumbers, gourds, melons and pumpkins.
EASTERN FILBERT BLIGHT HELP PAGE - anyone who grows or enjoys filberts (hazelnuts) should check out this site.
VEGATABLE MD ONLINE -  maintained by the Department of Plant Pathology at Cornell University. It covers only diseases of vegetable crops and is an excellent source of information and images.
 
STATISTICS: CENSUS OF AGRICULTURE - The census conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture provides consistent, uniform and detailed account of basic agricultural data.  There are quick links to specific commodities, as well as to state, county, and congressional district agricultural profiles.
 
VIRUSES: BIG PICTURE BOOK OF VIRUSES - offers an easily searchable archive of images of many viruses, including plant pathogens.
DESCRIPTIONS OF PLANT VIRUSES - Concise, accurate descriptions of plant viruses (including many excellent electron micrographs and other illustrations)
VIROLOGY
seeks to be the best single site for Virology information on the Internet.
 
VITICULTURE: American journal of enology & viticulture - You may only access this journal from computers in Raymond Library and designated computers at the Grandview Campus.

WASHINGTON ASSOCIATION OF WINE GRAPE GROWERS - designed for the current wine grape grower as well as those seeking additional information about the industry or about becoming a grower in the state.

WASHINGTON STATE AGRICULTURAL BIBLIOGRAPHY - bibliographies of journals and books published between 1820 and 1945 on Washington State agriculture, forestry, and fisheries with a total of 2,323 entries compiles as part of  Preserving the History of U.S. Agriculture and Rural Life Grant Project from 2004 to 2008 funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Titles have been ranked by their importance for future scholarly research. The top-ranked titles were then preserved on microfilm. Thirty serial titles and 98 book titles (748 volumes, 278,000+ pages) were microfilmed and are now available through the University of Washington Libraries. An additional title, Washington Farmer (41 volumes, 37,000+ pages), was microfilmed in 2008-2009 with funding from the University of Washington Friends of the Libraries and a grant from the Washington State Library with funding from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Eventually each State in the U.S. will complete a similar project, helping to preserve agricultural literature nationwide for future generations of researchers.

WASHINGTON AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS PUBLICATIONS - Publications cover a wide range of agricultural topics.
